Souvenirs from Argosaronic Gulf

Let's be honest, one of the best parts of any trip is souvenir shopping. A souvenir doesn't just have to be a product that's unique to the place we're visiting, like a traditional local item. It can be anything that reminds us of our trip. So let's take a look at some of the most characteristic souvenirs we can bring back from the Argosaronic islands of Hydra, Poros, and Aegina.

Aegina pistachios – Aegina

It's hard to imagine leaving Aegina without at least a bag of their famous pistachios in our luggage. These local nuts provide employment for thousands of locals and support entire businesses on the island. But it's not just the nuts themselves that make great souvenirs. We can also find sweets, drinks, cooking recipes, and even natural cosmetics for the face and hair made with peanut oil.

Citrus sweets and drinks – Poros

Thanks to the island's famous lemon grove, Poros offers locals and tourists a variety of products based on lemon, orange, bitter orange, and bergamot. Lemonade is the most popular, but Poros almonds are also famous. The island's vineyards and tradition of producing retsina wine contribute to a remarkable production that's widely available. We can also buy olive oil made from Galata Troizinia olives, handmade bathroom cosmetics, and kitchen products made from extra virgin organic olive oil. Lastly, we can't forget about the Troyzinia honey and natural cosmetic products made from beeswax.

Handmade art objects and macaroons – Hydra

As the most cosmopolitan island of the Argosaronic group, Hydra's shopping experience is not just enjoyable, but also a good investment, whether we're looking for small or large items. Hydra is full of tasteful shops with unique pieces that we won't easily find elsewhere or in the shop next door. Our souvenirs from Hydra can refresh our wardrobe or home decor. We can find crocheted silk clothing, hand-painted scarves, fine handmade jewelry by local artisans, traditional sandals, paintings and ceramics by local and other artists, and an incredible variety of rare and valuable rosaries. We'll also find many items for the home, kitchen, and bedroom made of linen or cotton, such as embroidered pillowcases, tablecloths, antiques, and decorative charms. Lastly, it may be impossible to resist the hydrangea almonds, the "wedding sweets" that symbolize fertility, local herbs, and olive oil products.
